The Practical Caregiver is a resource for hands-on education that caregivers need in order to safely and properly care for someone or to judge the quality of care one is receiving in another setting.These skills are presented in seven sections: BASIC BODY MECHANICS, POSITIONING, TRANSFERS, AMBULATION, SELF-HELP, FEEDING, COMMUNICATION.

Each skill is taught using step-by-step instruction and demonstration. These are basic, non-prescriptive techniques that therapists in the healthcare field use on a daily basis. Not all of these techniques may be appropriate for everyone. Consult your healthcare professional before you begin this program or if you have a special concern, specific precautions or are currently in a rehabilitation program.
